If a child is struggling to breathe, is floppy or will not wake, or their skin, lips or tongue look blue or grey: call 999 now. Colour changes are harder to see on brown and black skin, so check the palms, soles, lips and tongue. If you are worried but it is not an emergency, call NHS 111. In Northern Ireland use your GP out-of-hours service.

Sleep and crying

These four are the organisations whose actual subject is sleep and crying. Everything else on this page is broader family support that happens to cover sleep.

Sleep Action (Capella Charity, formerly Sleep Scotland)

Scottish charity SC027560 (OSCR), company SC182935

Scotland only 18 months to 18 years No phone number

There is no telephone number for this service. The Scottish Sleep Support Line is reached by web form or by email at sleepsupport@sleepaction.org, and that is not an oversight on our part: no phone number is published anywhere.

Sleep Scotland did not close, as is often reported. It renamed. Sleep Action is now a division of Capella Charity (OSCR SC027560), and the change was registered on 14 June 2022. The service covers Scotland only, for children and young people aged 18 months to 18 years, and they state it is available at no cost thanks to grant funding.
